About This Piece

Vintage Design

Set of two mirror decorations, Edouard Gilles (1868-1895), painter on porcelain training, which created in Paris at the end of the nineteenth his own art workshop of art.
On a brown background with pretty nuances, two imaginary creatures in relief compete, or move away from each other, depending on how we choose to dispose of these vases. The association of lions bodies with wings and eagle beaks evokes grades, dominant among golden decors distributed regularly on all two vases.
These are also decorated with throat collar and are based on a bonze base.
Another touch of originality: a nice green water inside these very decorative objects, monogrammed on the underside.
Perfectly adapted to a contemporary atmosphere, these vases also remind us of the old crops, with these two protective monsters, combining the terrestrial force of the tawny and the celestial energy of the raptor.
