A sturdy pair of antique curtain hooks; we would like to point out that we do not consider the definition ''curtain hooks'' to be exact, or rather inadequate when referring to the two objects under examination, we prefer to call them by their 18th century French name ''embrasse''. They have been made in pieces with perfect and elaborate bronze fusions with rocailles motifs, leaves and garlands of flowers, assembled with skill and symmetry; the next operation was for skilled craftsmen to chisel them by hand in an accurate and meticulous way in order to bring out even the smallest details; the two ''embrasses'' were then gilded with the ancient method of ''mercury vapor gilding'' (a very dangerous procedure for those who carried it out but of very high quality), which made the bronze take on the warm color of gold, over time an original patina was formed making these objects even more precious and aesthetically engaging today. The creation of two rare and exceptional works of art has fully justified this long and laborious craftsmanship. Being quite strong and long, when fixed to the wall, they can also support very heavy curtains. Handcrafted in France between 1780 and 1790 in perfect Louis XVI style. Measures cm. 31 x 22 x 8.

Delivery Details

Delivery will be completed by a parcel service such as UPS, DHL, or FedEx.

Delivery will take place between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
A wooden crate may be used for intercontinental shipments for maximum protection.
Item will be left in its packaging after delivery.
A signature will be required upon delivery.
