Set of 4 Restoration armchairs. around 1820. Mahogany. Beautiful golden patina. Rolling armrests that end in scrolls. Console front legs. Rear saber base. Straight roll-up backrest. carved wood The seat upholstery is worn. The upholstery is in good condition. Very comfortable. Elegant and decorative. Ideal dimensions combining comfort and finesse. nice profile The Restoration style, which succeeds the Empire style, is contemporary with the Biedermeier which flourishes elsewhere in continental Europe. It characterizes art under the reigns of Louis XVIII and his brother Charles X. Less inventive than the Empire style, it is less monumental and operates the transition between imperial sobriety and the aesthetic richness of the Louis Philippe style. Indeed, the characteristics of the Restoration style aim above all to provide intimate and comfortable furniture, the production of which is gradually becoming industrialized. The Restoration style marks a break with the Empire in that the lines and shapes are rounded. The straight, pure and massive lines of the previous style are softened by a return to curves.
