About This Piece

Work by the famous French sculptor Max Le Verrier (1891-1973) who was both a sculptor and producer, in his own foundry laboratory, of works of art mainly in bronze and other metal alloys (Fonte d'Art). This work is cataloged under the name "Loup de Mer" or, if it was used as a car mascot (radiator cap for 1920s and 1930s cars), marketed under the name "Chemineau". The steam due to the overheating of the water in the radiator comes out of the character's pipe, indicating to the driver when it was necessary to stop the car to avoid damage to the engine.
