Vintage Design

An unusual pair of large-sized goblets depicting children. Blue glass hand-painted with enamel paints. The glasses were made in the 19th century, around 1860, in the characteristic Biedermeier style.

Beautiful, glazed cups showing children running towards each other: a boy with wildflowers in his hand and a girl pointing in his direction. Children's clothes are decorated with gilded details. The decoration of the glasses is a coherent narrative, it is a set that should not be separated. Figures in floral decoration in white shades. The picture is painted very carefully with dedication to detail. Blue cups made of thick glass stand on ornate, transparent legs.

The glasses are an example of Biedermeier craftsmanship. This style developed in Central Europe and is strongly associated with the bourgeois culture. Also called the last phase of classicism, it drew inspiration from ancient forms with a clear division and clean lines.
