A thrilling oil on canvas painting of jockeys in full motion, where you can almost feel the rush of wind as the horses race by. This action-packed and colorful piece is signed in the left corner by Giacomo Varese (1815-1892) and vividly captures the energy and intensity of the scene. It is presented in its original giltwood frame.

Varese, primarily known as a landscape painter, showcases a different style in this work. The looser brushstrokes suggest it may have been created later in his career. A student of Michele Canzio, Varese became a member of the Ligurian Academy in 1838.

This painting has been professionally cleaned by a restorer from the University of Amsterdam, preserving its vibrant colors and fine details. Also a small tear has been treated professionally. See the backside of the painting.
