Set of two large candlesticks from Arclumis series designed by Matthew Hilton for SCP ( England). Produced in the 1980s, in addition to their function as candlesticks, they can act as modern sculpture. Their form is slender and elegant, often referred to as swan. Made of solid, heavy aluminum. Items designed by Hilton are valued and sought after by collectors. It is one of the most famous designs by this author, auctioned at major auction houses around the world. Matthew Hilton (born 1957) is a British designer of modern furniture and lighting. He attended Portsmouth College of Art and then Kingston Polytechnic, graduating in 1979. Matthew Hilton is an acclaimed British designer whose eponymous product line expresses the technical expertise and clarity of vision gained over three decades in the industry. Using robust materials that improve with age, Matthew Hilton creates timelessly beautiful, highly functional products that are rigorously designed. Hilton's furniture is in the permanent Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Geffrye Museum in London and the Manchester City Art Gallery.
