About the designer. The work of Danish designer Niels Otto Møller, born in 1920 in Århus, gained a reputation for consistent excellence in quality and craftsmanship. Møllers dedication to his profession came from his studies as a furniture maker, which he completed in 1939, followed by further studies at the Århus School of Design. In 1944, Møller founded his own furniture production company, JL Møllers Møbelfabrik, in a small workshop in the center of his birthplace. While he supervised traditional furniture production in his factory, Møller continued to design himself. The no. 1 chair (1946) was the first result. The rest of his life Møllers Furniture Design would be produced by his own company. Møller's seats, such as the Sculptural No. 55 and No. 71 (both from 1951), strongly represent, through the choice of materials and the soft curves, the Scandinavian post -war vision of practical but well -made and designed design. In 1952, when the company grew, JL Møllers Møbelfabrik began to export to Germany and the United States. In order to continue to meet the demand, Møller expanded his production facilities. In 1961 he bought a large piece of land in Højbjerg, a city close to his birthplace. There, Møller continued to design dining room chairs and armchairs in almost sculpted, organic forms in teak, oak and walnut - all are examples of the post -war Danish modern style. In 1981, JL Møllers Møbelfabrik received the Dansk Møbelindustri's Furniture Prize, with special mention for his "ability to combine the best traditional traditions with modern furniture production." Niels Otto Møller designed and produced a large number of seats and his brand became synonymous with good Danish design worldwide. This reputation was left to his children after his death in 1982. His sons, Jorgen Henrik Møller and Jens Ole Møller, continue the company and until today it is still in family property. This set. This great set of 4 beautiful seats, Model 77 is one of the strongest designs of this manufacturer, they are in beautiful original condition. The entire construction is also checked. The original papers seat is still completely intact and very neat, unique! Most striking is that with two chairs a somewhat darker discoloration is visible. According to the first owners, this could also be explained perfectly, since they used 2 copies for years, the other 2 were only used sporadically at visitors. And say for yourself, if they are at a table it is not at all disturbing, and when you take it in place you will see nothing of it. A little extra character is a vintage furniture wrong, isn't it? In combination with the beautiful teak wood there is a fantastic set of 4 chairs that belong to the real design classics, a wonderful jewel for your interior, a value -proof investment in your home or office. A real unique set for the real mid -century modern enthusiast! .
