Vintage Design

Architectural floor lamp model '1078' by Vittoriano Vigano (1919 - 1996) for Arteluce, Italy 1960. Interesting minimal design composed of a cubic shaped stem with intriguing cut outs creating a strong outspoken graphic silhouette. The cut outs hides two of the the light sources the third one comes from the top, the light is indirectly reflected by the aluminium reflectors which create a very atmospheric light. Minimal in shape and color, yet very detailed and balanced in the used elements; an exciting contrast between the light smooth aluminum and the dark matt black structured crackle lacquer and the typical Arteluce hand turned screws at the bottom. A master piece from a great talent with a vision, from his apprenticeship at Studio BBPR, earning a Master’s degree in engineering and started to assist Gio Ponti with his interior design projects, continuing his path with his own design in both furniture design as in architecture; a true gem is of course Casa La Scala which he designed for French sculptor André Bloc. In excellent condition.
