This Nigerian Ashanti stool can be dated in the early 20th century. In traditional Ashanti culture, stools indicated power, status and lines of succession. The flat base, the central support and the curved seat refer to the Ashanti King Stool. While most Ashanti woodworkers carved the central support into a symbol or animal, this maker was inspired by realistic warrior attributes: a barrel, a gun, a bandolier with powder flask and box. The stool is in very good condition with its authentic patina.

A wooden crate may be used for intercontinental shipments for maximum protection.
Item will be left in its packaging after delivery.
A signature will be required upon delivery.
