Considering the global resurgence of nature during the Coronavirus pandemic, the artist was inspired by thoughts of the god of the wilds, once pronounced dead at the beginning of the 1st Century AD, returning to the woods in 2020. Singleton starts a painting by working abstractly, painting in colour and marks. She builds up layers and develops a setting and figures and finally a narrative. Singleton uses iridescent and florescent pigments that shimmer and glow differently with changing light. There is a nice texture to the physical pieces that is difficult to see photographed.
