Three principles that motivated Pierre Chapo in his work were 'material, form, and function.' He preferred to use elmwood as his material of choice and measured his furniture using the golden ratio. Chapo founded Société Chapo in 1957, which was a design workshop and gallery where he showcased his own creations along with other great designers of that period. He died in 1987, but until his last day, he kept designing and working.
