About This Piece

Vintage Design

This mahogany cabinet features two 3-drawer pedestals at different heights.
The 6 drawers, 4 of which have original locks with threaded escutcheons and fitted keys, are fitted with round brass knobs with brass cups.
The leg passage features a hinged door with cut-out recessed panel and an authentic working lock with key and key.
These elements rest on a projecting molded base.
The cylinder of the desk is fitted with round brass knobs.
The waistband features a drawer with a recessed front that, when opened, provides clearance for sitting.
This drawer, fitted with an authentic lock and key, reveals three hinged traps with mitered frames covered in green leather with gilded vignette, the largest with a central motif.
In addition to offering three reserves, the central section can be raised to form a lectern using a rack-and-pinion system.
The interior features 4 maple flecked drawers with turned rosewood knobs on each side, and a paper compartment topped by 4 letter trays.
The bookcase section, highlighted by an intermediate molding, consists of 2 doors with rounded corners, flanked by glass panels with basket-handle-style interior moldings.
These doors include an original lock, also functional, with threaded entry and posterior key.
The interior features 3 adjustable shelves mounted on racks.
The cornice is worked in doucine.
This cylinder desk/library will appeal for its rarity and many features.
